Pure Confidence in NYC
Truly a full circle moment in my life…I left NYC in June of ’07 to return home to Mpls, MN after being away for more than 15 years. After two years as the Production Manager for Mixed Blood Theatre I am trilled to be working back in NYC and I couldn’t imagine a better show than “Pure Confidence” to represent Mixed Blood and the broad range of unique theater the Twin Cities has to offer. The show has received fantastic reviews by over 50 publications. The audiences love it and the Box Office is consistently getting calls from patrons raving about the performance they saw. Just last night I was told that a woman called in who had seen the show earlier this week. She ranted and raved about the moving and thought provoking piece adding that it was “Broadway caliber”. I’d shamelessly have to agree.
Having lived in NYC from ’98-’07 I was a cofounder of SameVein Productions and like most New Yorkers I was also an Actress, Designer and of course a Bartender. If you want to live in Manhattan and have money left to eat you need to have at least three jobs. It is no coincidence that this experience has been oddly familiar for me in countless ways least of which includes having three jobs at one time. In addition to my normal Production manager responsibilities of planning and budgeting for the ’09-’10 Season I have also had the great honor of being the Company Manager as well as the Assistant Stage Manger. While exhausting it has been a fantastic privilege to be a part of this amazing ensemble. In addition 59E59 Theaters is a truly topnotch organization. I have had the opportunity to step outside my box and accompany the cast to live radio broadcasts, as well as on camera interviews for WNBC and make an appearance at the Harlem Arts Organization. We have also had several requests for talkbacks and nightly fans of all ages patiently wait at the Stage door or up in the EBar for a chance to meet the cast. People who have seen the show have even approached several cast members randomly around the city. In this city of a million faces it is really something when someone goes out of their way to stop you on the street or subway to say they saw your show and they loved it!
