MINNECANOS
By Joe Minjares
Oct 14 - Nov 10

An irascible old man uses his life's souvenirs to introduce his great-grandchild to their common Chicano heritage.  This charming show is brimming with lively corridas (story-songs), touching reconciliations among the family's four generations, and more than a little humor. Performed in English.

DR. KING'S DREAM
Jan 13 - Feb 23

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led American society through some its most profound changes with passion, devotion, and courage. Drawn from his own letters, sermons, books and speeches, this biography memorably illuminates why he is honored with a holiday each January.

DAUGHTERS OF AFRICA
Jan 13 - Feb 23

Fueled by the songs of Lena Horne, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, and many others, this exuberant, music-driven celebration of African American women’s triumphs and accomplishments features a striking collection of profiles of the famous and the forgotten.

BLACK EAGLE
Jan 20 - Feb 23

The dynamic story of a modern American hero - Dr. Ronald McNair, the African American scientist aboard the space shuttle Challenger.  Vividly recounting his inspiring journey from a segregated Carolina town to the elite of the space program, it affirms the rewards of determination and belief in oneself.

THE DEAF DUCKLING
Mar 31 - Apr 27

Featuring a talented cast of deaf and hearing actors, this innovative show deftly intertwines the familiar fairy tale with the story of a deaf child born into a hearing family.  Performed simultaneously in English and American Sign Language, it offers a warm and insightful look at how one family bridges deaf and hearing cultures.

Mixed Blood Theatre's entertaining, eye-opening productions brilliantly spotlight the pluralistic threads of the American cultural fabric.

Easy to arrange and accommodate, these productions promote inclusion, pluralism, and individual equality, showing live theater as a vehicle for change. Equally effective for an audience of young people in a gym, college students in a commons area, families at a library, or longtime theater-goers in a million dollar concert hall, Mixed Blood's touring repertory has proven over three decades to be consistently affirming for some, eye-opening for others, and entertaining for all.
